Each IPE (iron wood) strip is connected with rods. Using IPE for an outdoor table + bench is perfect for a rainy city like Vancouver. The great advantage of IPE is because its dense and naturally strong (and heavy), it lasts long, also, we can re oil to make them look just like new!
